Join PRISM Exeter for their latest event in their 'Speakers' series. These events showcase some of the amazing work being done by STEMM* professionals who just so happen to be LGBTQ+ and the ground-breaking work being done to make STEMM* more accessible and inclusive to all.
*STEMM = Science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine
Alexis Hoyland (Office of National Statistics) will be giving a talk on LGBTQ+ identities in the 2021 census of England and Wales. They will provide insights into the classifications that were prepared to assist the analysis of the anonymised free-format responses to the sexual orientation and gender identity questions.
Dr Layal Hakim (University of Exeter) will present PRISM Exeter's 'Allyship' talk for 2021. She will talk about the `'Exeter Spectrum Programme' which she leads. This program of pedagogical research focuses on supporting autistic students in their learning.
Please note : we are hopeful that this event will be able to feature an in-person element. However, we anticipate that social distancing regulations associated with the COVID-19 pandemic will reduce capacity at our intended venue. Therefore, we are only releasing 'Virtual Attendee' tickets at this time.

About the Speakers series
PRISM Exeter's Speakers events series was established to showcase and celebrate the incredible work of LGBTQ+ people in STEMM and game-changing diversity and inclusion initiatives from across the UK. These events run three times a year, typically in February, July, and November to coincide with LGBT History Month in the UK, PRISM Exeter's own birthday, and LGBTQ+ STEMM Day, respectively.

This event is supported by a 'Diversity in Science' grant from the Biochemical Society, awarded to Dr Claire L Davies.
