Location: CAST, Helston
CAST in Helston will be hosting a free Space Adventures Code Lab to celebrate the Institute of Physics Big Data season.
Participants will explore creative coding to design their own digital skycapes of millions of stars, and use real space data to explore techniques - such as match filtering - that are used by astronomers to find new stars and objects in space.
There will also be an opportunity to collaboratively design a space-themed object to be 3D printed that afternoon.
CAST will also be running a collaborative data-driven art project, likely a wall-project inspired by data artist Giorgia Lupi, for everyone, children and parents. You can drop in and take part at anytime during the day.
Please bring a fully charged laptop with working wifi for each child. We have some spare laptops, please get in touch if you'd like to reserve one for your child.
All children must be accompanied by a parent or carer, who can relax in the on-site cafe, which serves delicious food and a range of refreshments.
Please book tickets for each person attending, so 2 tickets for a parent and a child.
There are several options for parking, including the Godolphin car park, a council car park and free parking near the Helston boating lake.
